According to the lead author of the study Dr. Paul Elliott, a professor of epidemiology and public health medicine at Imperial College London “There is public concern about possible effects of mobile phone mast emissions on the health of children,” and further “This large national study found no association between mobile phone base station exposures and risk of early childhood cancers”.There have been some previous studies that tried to show that the cell phone towers brings the drastic effects on pregnant women by raising the risks of cancers in the child but recently a new study by researchers has shown that there is no such connection.
As there is nothing hidden about the increased usage of mobile phones and the previous studies have raised many threats in the mind of people who were living near those cell phone towers, in the study researchers took two different group of children one with some tumors and other completely healthy and after research they found no association between risks of early childhood cancers and mother’s exposure to the mobile phones.
John Bithell, an honorary research fellow in the Childhood Cancer Research Group at the University of Oxford and author of an accompanying editorial also stated that “It would seem to be very unlikely that there is any serious risk to young children from cancers resulting from proximity to a mobile phone mast”.
